ASME Scholarship Applications are Due March 1 ASME Scholarship Applications are Due March 1 ASME Scholarship Applications are Due March 1Feb. 10, 2017 Applications are being accepted through March 1 for approximately 60 scholarships that are being offered through the ASME Scholarship Program, including the new Christopher L Hoffmann Memorial Scholarship. This year, the program will offer ASME student members nearly $250,000 in scholarships for the 2017-2018 school year. The ASME Scholarship Program seeks to promote the art and science of mechanical engineering by encouraging outstanding students by relieving some of the financial burden of pursuing an engineering education. ASME scholarships are made possible by the generous contributions of donors through the ASME Foundation and ASME Auxiliary. ASME student members need only to submit a single online application to be considered for all of the scholarships for which they qualify. Scholarships available to undergraduate students for the 2017-2018 school year include the $13,000 Kenneth Andrew Roe Scholarship, the $11,000 ASME Foundation Scholar award, the $5,000 Nuclear Engineering Division Scholarship, the $5,000 Garland Duncan Scholarship, the $4,000 Melvin R. Green Scholarship, and the $4,000 American Electric Power Scholarship. A new scholarship, the Christopher L. Hoffmann Memorial Scholarship, is also open to undergraduate students. The $2,000 scholarship was established in memory of Dr. Hoffman, a 30-year ASME member and metallurgical engineer who made significant contributions to ASME Nuclear Standards and Certification programs, primarily through development of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code. The scholarship will be awarded to a mechanical engineering or materials science student whose interests include advanced materials, engineering mechanics, or the design, fabrication and examination of pressure components.A number of ASME scholarships are also available to gradua te and Ph.D. students, including include the $4,500 Willis F. Thompson Memorial Scholarship, the $4,000 ASME/Virginia Tech Memorial Scholarship and the $2,000 Kate Gleason Scholarship. To learn more about the scholarships offered by ASME, and to view the complete list of scholarships, visit the Engineering Scholarships webpage on ASME.org at www.asme.org/career-education/scholarships-and-grants/scholarship.
